45th Annual NEED Youth Conference Concluded
Hello all! I just got back from from the NEED Youth Conference in DC, where I was a student ambassador and leader helping with administrative tasks. Last year, I received the California state award for my organization Sustainable Housing San Diego, and this year, I returned to lead other energized youth in the fight for environmental justice. It was a great experience, and while we didn’t have much time to explore, I got to show my roommate from Puerto Rico some of the sights DC has to offer and practice my Spanish a bit. When we went to the WWII memorial, we saw a gathering of families at the monument to Puerto Rico, and I got to witness a moment of brotherhood as everyone, including my roommate, shared their family stories. I was a bit sleep-deprived for the duration of the trip, since I had to wake up fairly early every morning, but it was worth it. The kids seemed to have a blast participating in the learning activities.
